Texans Sign Top-Pick Clowney
(NEW YORK) -- The Houston Texans signed the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NFL Draft Jadeveon Clowney, the team announced Friday.
The Houston Chronicle reports the deal is for four years, includes a fifth-year option, and is fully guarenteed. The Chronicle also reports the contract is worth $22.272 million and comes with a signing bonus worth $14.518 million.
The 6-foot-5, 266 pound Clowney played three seasons at South Carolina where he recorded 24 sacks including a school record 13 in 2012. The two-time first-team All-Southeastern conference selection finished his college career with 130 tackles, 24 sacks, 47 tackles for a loss and nine forced fumbles.
Clowney, who played defensive end in college, is transitioning to outside linebacker in Houston's 3-4 system.
