iStock/Thinkstock(WASHINGTON) -- For the week ending May 31, the Labor Department says 312,000 new claims were filed for unemployment insurance -- an increase of 8,000 from the previous week.

The four-week moving average was 310,250, falling 2,250 from the previous week.

This average for new claims for unemployment benefits is at the lowest level since June 2007.

The Labor Department said there were "no special factors" that impacted this week's report.
