Utilities Scam Targets Locals

Scam Alert_jpg_475x310_q85

(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – Several eastern Idaho businesses have been targets of a utilities scam. KIDK reports that someone is calling restaurants in Idaho Falls claiming that their power will be shut off unless they pay the outstanding balance on their utility bill with a credit card. Many of those affected are Hispanic-owned businesses. Officials with Idaho Falls Power advise people to never give out their credit card information over the phone, and to verify any alleged missed payments with them directly. They also recommend saving the number the call came from, and to contact the police immediately.
