Zoe Kravitz Reveals She’s ‘Struggled’ with Eating Disorders
(LOS ANGELES) -- In The Road Within, Zoe Kravitz portrays a woman struggling with eating disorders. The actress says she can completely relate to her character because she's dealt with those same issues offscreen.
"I've struggled with it myself in the past," Kravitz told Us Weekly at the Los Angeles premiere of the film. "I think all young women do. There are a bunch of images that are thrown in our faces all the time about what we're supposed to look like at 14, 15, 16. It's confusing. I think every woman can identify with that struggle."
Kravitz had to lose about 20 pounds for her role in the independent film, but the actress said she "tried to do it the healthiest way as possible, even though it's not healthy to do."
"I ended up drinking clay, because it cleans out your body and fills you up. I was eating like a Mason jar of pureed vegetables a day and running," she explained.
Kravitz is the latest celebrity to talk about digesting clay for health benefits. Her Divergent co-star Shailene Woodley told David Letterman previously that she eats clay because it "binds to other materials in your body and helps your body excrete those materials that are not necessarily the best for you."
