According to Bynum’s agent, David Lee, his client is considering sitting out all of next season to undergo the Regenokine knee therapy procedure.

The non-surgical procedure uses injections to help grow new cartilage, and requires an extra-long rehab.

This would require Bynum to travel to Germany to be treated doctor Peter Wehling. The surgery is not approved in the United States.

Athletes such as Alex Rodriguez and Kobe Bryant have underwent similar treatment.

It wasn’t too long ago that Bynum was considered one of the best young players in the NBA. Two seasons ago for the Los Angeles Lakers, Bynum averaged 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game.

But knee and other issues kept him out the entirety of the following season after he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.

He returned this past season and suited up for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers where he averaged 8.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in 26 games played.
