Tassler said she’s in very early talks with The Colbert Report host regarding the details of the transition. She remarked, “He does want an interview format, we’ve had some conversations, will he have a band, will he not have a band.”

Tassler also addressed Craig Ferguson’s impending departure from Late Late Show this December, hinting the program’s format could change. She said, “This is an opportunity for us to look at all different kinds of hosts, not only from the comic world, but maybe there’s the political world.” There is no timetable for a decision on the Late Late Show’s future.

Elsewhere on the CBS front, Tassler discussed the fact that the main stars of The Big Bang Theory are not yet under contract for next season. Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar will likely be working without a contract if they don’t work out a deal soon.  However, Tassler says, “We’re feeling very confident that everything will work out.  These deals manage to get done somehow miraculously.”
