In 2009, the Kings drafted Caspi 23rd overall, making him the first Israeli player to be drafted in the first round.

Caspi spent last season with the Houston Rockets, but was dealt recently to the New Orleans Hornets as part of the Omer Asik trade.

The Hornets wound up waiving Caspi, leaving him free to sign with anyone after clearing waivers.

During his five-year career, Caspi has proved to be a reliable option off the bench, even if it’s in limted minutes. In 71 games for the Rockets last season, he averaged 6.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game in 18.1 minutes per game.

Casspi’s cap hit for the upcoming season will be $915,243, which help the Kings stay under the tax threshold without being forced to release forward Quincy Acy
