Abrams’ Star Trek series, and now Guardians of the Galaxy. However she thinks that the world of superheroes can use more girl power. “[A]nd I think that I’m not the only who is saying that,” the actress told ABC News Radio over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con.

“I think it’s overall a very loud, loud voice that is speaking up and saying, ‘OK, enough with the sausage fest. It’s actually sexier to see women kicking the crap out of each other.'”

In Guardians, there’s no shortage of that: in the film, Saldana plays the fearsome, green-skinned assassin Gamora, and she tangles with another deadly beauty, Karen Gillan’s cybernetic warrior Nebula.

Not to be outdone in the “strong female lead” department, Glenn Close also appears as the steely leader Nova Prime.

Guardians of the Galaxy
, which also stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker, Lee Pace, and the voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper, opens Friday, Aug. 1.
