The Coke Zero 400 will commence on Sunday morning with the green flag set to drop at 11 a.m.

The weather began in midafternoon but a larger cell came over the track just before 8 p.m. on Saturday night. Track officials continued to hold out hope, drying the track as the rain continued to fall, before ultimately announcing the postponement at 9 p.m.

Joie Chitwood, track president at Daytona, said the decision was made because it would have taken at least 1 hour and 45 minutes to get the track ready for racing and an 11 p.m. start would create a 2 a.m. finish that was not conducive for safety.

David Gilliland is on the pole for the race but there is still more rain in the forecast for Sunday.
