Richard Percy Jones, the Voice of Pinocchio, Dies at 87
Published at(NORTHRIDGE, Calif.) — Richard Percy Jones, who as a child actor voiced the titular character in Disney’s 1940 animated film Pinocchio, died Monday at his home in Northridge, California, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 87.
Jones was found dead at the home by his wife. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
In Pinocchio, Jones brought to life the puppet who wanted to be a boy and whose nose grew when he told a lie. He also performed on the classic Disney songs from Pinocchio, “Give a Little Whistle,” “Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee” and “I’ve Got No Strings.”
Jones’ other credits include the Other Gang movies, Babes in Toyland, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and Heaven Can Wait.
