Risch, Simpson Call Aug 2. GOP Meeting
Published at(BOISE, ID) – U.S. Sen. Jim Risch and Congressman Mike Simpson want to bridge the divide in Idaho’s Republican Party. They’ve called a meeting of party leaders on August 2, to determine who will become the next party chairman. Last month’s state convention ended in a meltdown between the establishment and the Tea Party, without the election of a new chair. Until that time, incumbent Barry Peterson will retain his seat. Peterson had initially planned to reconvene August 9, but now says he’s open to compromise.
