Sex Offender Gets Prison for Failing to Register

(POCATELLO, ID) – A former Pocatello man will spend a year in prison for failing to register as a sex offender. Jeramie McGuire, 36,was convicted of rape in Oregon 16 years ago. McGuire moved from Big Piney, Wyoming to Pocatello in 2013, but never notified authorities about his new address. Prosecutors say it was all part of a deliberate attempt to navigate through loopholes by traveling between Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. Federal laws require sex offenders to keep their registration up to date in each of their places of residence.
