Snake River Teacher Fails to Renew Contract Amid Dispute

(BLACKFOOT, ID) – Embattled Snake River High School science teacher Elaine Asmus won’t be teaching during the upcoming school year. The school board required Asmus to sign a new contract by June 30, which Asmus failed to do. Instead, Asmus filed a grievance with the district. Asmus had been placed on probation following a dispute with another teacher. Her attorney says she was unfairly targeted because the argument involved the wife of the superintendent. The subsequent legal battle cost the district more than $57,000.
