Andi Dorfman selected her finalists on Monday night’s episode of the ABC series: Nick Viall, a 33-year-old software sales executive from Chicago, and Josh Murray, a 29-year-old former professional baseball player from Atlanta.

Chris Soules, a 32-year-old farmer from Arlington, Iowa, didn’t make the cut. In fact, he didn’t even make it to the rose ceremony.

Andi went on solo dates with each of the three men in the Dominican Republic. First up was Nick, who joined her for a helicopter ride to the private Saona Island. They snorkeled and kissed in the water.

Nick struggled to tell Andi that he loves her, so he created a fairy-tale book that recapped their romance to that point. The end of the book was filled with blank pages, implying that their future has not yet been written.

Andi was touched by Nick’s creativity, and offered him a key to the fantasy suite. He accepted.

Josh also landed an invite to the fantasy suite after exploring Santo Domingo with Andi. He again showed off his baseball skills, too, by joining some kids for a pickup game. He gushed to the cameras that he’s in love with Andi, who noted how drawn she is to his maturity.

Chris’ date with Andi proved to be his swan song on The Bachelorette. It began with the two riding horses in the countryside — an activity that Andi wasn’t entirely comfortable with, given her lack of experience. As she pondered a life with Chris on a farm, she admitted to him that she would be taking a huge risk by leaving her job in Georgia as an assistant district attorney for his rural lifestyle.

However, Andi refused to use Iowa as an excuse. Instead, she said she just didn’t feel strongly enough about their relationship to continue with it. She declared, “I’m trying and I’m trying but it’s not there.” She added, “My head and my heart don’t match up.”

Chris’ early departure rendered the rose ceremony anti-climactic, with both Nick and Josh receiving a rose on the beach.

Andi, Nick and Josh will remain in the Dominican Republic for the season finale, which airs on July 28. Next Monday, ABC will air the “Men Tell All” special.

After the show wraps up its season, the latest spin-off in the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise, Bachelor in Paradise, will premiere on Aug. 4. ABC has just announced that a few of Andi’s eliminated suitors, including Marcus Grodd, who was sent home after the hometown visits, will take part in Bachelor in Paradise.
