“MANDATORY FUN enters the Billboard album chart this week at #1. Wow. WOW,” the funnyman, 54, wrote.

He added, “If you’d told me 30 years ago this would happen, I never would’ve believed it. If you’d told me 2 WEEKS ago, I never would’ve believed it.”

Yankovic has been entertaining fans for more than three decades with parodies of songs, including the Michael Jackson take-offs, “Eat It” and “Fat,” but came out of nowhere this year with his new album and new hits like “Tacky” and “Handy,” riffs on popular songs by the likes of Pharrell and Iggy Azalea. “Mandatory Fun” is Weird Al’s 14th studio album.

Artists have come to take Weird Al’s parodies as a sign of respect and are flattered by the comic musician’s work.

Pharrell told Billboard magazine that he “approved” Weird Al’s spoof on his song before it came to fruition.

“He wrote me a letter and I was like, ‘Aww, what?!'” he said excitedly. “Yeah!”

“I’m so pleased everybody is enjoying the album, and I’m enormously grateful for everyone’s support. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU,” Yankovic added on Twitter.
