POCATELLO, Idaho-  Idaho State football coach Mike Kramer is excited to get the 2014 season underway.  The Bengals hit the practice field for the first time this fall on Monday evening inside Holt Arena .

With eight starters returning on offense and nine on defense, there is a lot for Kramer to be excited about.

“I am relatively confident that we have finally arrived,” Kramer said. “It is the first time in four years that we have a Big Sky caliber team that has Big Sky caliber athletes top to bottom.”

The Bengals will have not have to rely on underclassmen as much this season.  Juniors and seniors will see the bulk of the playing time.

“We are pretty loaded in terms of experience,” Kramer said. “Our knowledge of the sport and how this coaching staff wants them to play is pretty good. That means we are very fast. A guy that doesn’t have college experience doesn’t play as fast.”

Idaho State will kick off the 2014 campaign on the road August 28 when they head south to face the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
