(POCATELLO, ID) – U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo was in Pocatello Thursday to honor local veterans.

95-year-old Quentin Murdock of Rockford took home the Spirit of Freedom award, a special designation Crapo has given to nearly a dozen people since 2002. Murdock, who is a World War II veteran, fought at Normandy Beach on D-Day.

Another World War II vet, Dan Scarborough, received the Outstanding Resident award. Crapo says his work with local veterans has helped him work to improve military-related legislation in Washington.
