A Monday morning update noted that fire crews now have the fires 81 percent contained, though the fire now covers about 252,761 acres. The containment figure is up from 71 percent on Friday night.

Due to the new fire activity south of Winthrop, Washington, addition evacuations were put into place. All residents from Twin Lakes Road to Wolf Creek Road and at the Sun Mountain Resort were placed under level three evacuations.

Over 3,000 fire personnel continue to battle the flames.
