“Downton Abbey” Cast Responds to Water Bottle Goof

ITV(LONDON) — The cast of Downton Abbey turned a goof into something good. It all started after a promotional photo for the show’s fifth season was released last week with a not-so-historically-accurate water bottle visible in the background. While the Internet had a field day with the gaffe, the Downton cast took action.
In an Instagram photo posted Friday, 17 cast members posed with water bottles in reference to the mistake and took the opportunity to raise awareness for WaterAid. The photo’s caption shared a link encouraging people to donate to the international charity, which helps get clean water and safe toilets to the world’s poorest communities.
The fifth season of the Emmy-nominated drama will premiere on PBS on Jan. 4, 2015.
