(REXBURG, ID) – The number of tourists visiting eastern Idaho has gone up this year. Donna Benfield of the Rexburg Chamber of Commerce says tourism has gone up 10 percent compared to last year.

Local News 8 reports that the boost is due in large part to the region’s proximity to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Other attractions like Yellowstone Bear World and local hotels have also benefited from the extra traffic.

An estimated 177,000 Idahoans are also expected to travel during the upcoming Labor Day weekend.
