(IDAHO FALLS, ID) — After hearing mixed public comments, the Idaho Falls City Council voted 5-1 to approve a $177.6 million budget Thursday night.

The lone dissenting vote came from Councilwoman Barbara Ehardt. The Post Register is reporting that Ehardt’s no vote was because she felt the Council had not adequately examined the budget.

The budget calls for an estimated 2.6 percent tax increase that will help pay for new fire station. Construction of the new fire station is expected to cost around $2.5 million.
