CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) – Some independent candidates are pushing to get on the ballot for Wyoming’s general election in November.

Don Wills of Pine Bluffs filed a petition Wednesday seeking to run as an independent in the governor’s race. He would face incumbent Republican Gov. Matt Mead and Democrat Pete Gosar.

Curt Gottshall of Laramie has filed to run as an independent for U.S. Senate. He would face incumbent Republican Sen. Mike Enzi and Democrat Charlie Hardy.

State election director Peggy Nighswonger says her staff is reviewing the petitions.

Nighswonger says her office already has certified independent candidate Anthony Allen to run in the House District 37 race. Incumbent Casper Republican Steve Harshman was Tuesday’s unofficial winner of the GOP nomination in District 37 while no Democrat was on the ballot.
