(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – An invasive weed has been found in Gem Lake near Idaho Falls.

KPVI reports that it’s the first time Flowering Rush has been located in water systems around Idaho Falls. The cattail-like weed is known to be in other eastern Idaho watersheds, and causes extreme damage to irrigation systems and wildlife habitat.

Bonneville County officials are working to keep the weeds from spreading.
