ISP Writing More Tickets

(POCATELLO, ID) – Idaho State Police are writing more tickets now that the speed limit has increased on Interstate Highways.
Lt. Ismael Gonzalez tells KPVI that troopers issued nearly 400 tickets in eastern Idaho between July 24 and August 20. That’s compared to less than 300 over the same period last year.
Gonzalez says the 80 mile-per-hour speed limit has also led to an increase in the severity of crashes. The change went into effect in July, following a law enacted by the 2014 Idaho Legislature.
The measure was modeled after an existing highway traffic law in Utah.
