ISU Opens 2014 Season at Utah

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State football team opens the 2014 season on Thursday, August 28, at the University of Utah. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network with Kevin Calabro, Glenn Parker and Jill Savage calling the action. Jerry Miller and Tim Lewis will call all the action on the 930 CBS Sports Radio and Rock 102.5. Scouting the Utes
Utah finished 5-7 in 2013 and 2-6 in conference play. This year Utah was picked to finish fifth in the South Division of the Pac-12.  Quarterback Travis Wilson is one of 16 returning starters–eight on offense, six on defense and two kickers–and 50 returning lettermen. Among Utah’s all-conference candidates are Dres Anderson and Nate Orchard. Anderson averaged 83.5 yards per game as an honorable mention all-conference wide receiver in 2013 and is the leading returning receiver in the Pac-12. He caught 53 passes for 1,002 yards as a junior and his 18.2 yards-per-catch average led the Pac-12 and ranked 12th nationally.

ISU Series vs. Utah
Utah leads the series 6-0. The last meeting between the two schools was a 66-0 Utah win on September 10, 1994. Utah beat ISU 41-16 on September 10, 1988 and 51-16 on September 26, 1987. Utah shut out the Bengals 56-0 in 1978 and 24-0 in 1944. In 1944, Utah also beat ISU 38-12.

Bengals Against FBS Opponents 
Idaho State is 0-20 against FBS schools since beating Utah State 27-24 at USU in 2000.  Since 2008, the FBS opponents Idaho State has faced are; Air Force, Nebraska, BYU, Washington State, Utah State, Georgia, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Boise State, Washington and Idaho.  ISU is set to play Utah and Utah State in 2014, Boise State and BYU in 2015 and Colorado in 2016.

Coach Kramer and Bailey = Offensive Fireworks 
This year marks the 10th year Don Bailey has worked under coach Kramer as the offensive coordinator. Bailey served as the coordinator for six years at Montana State and this is the fourth year they have been together at ISU.
