Kerry to Travel, Meet with Asian, Australian Leaders
Published at(WASHINGTON) — Secretary of State John Kerry is scheduled to meet with Asian and Australian leaders during an upcoming trip to Burma, Australia, the Solomon Islands and Hawaii.
Kerry is slated to arrive in Burma on Aug. 9, where he will attend meetings with leaders of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) regarding American business in Asia. He is expected to affirm the United States’ commitment to promote peace, stability and prosperity in Asia.
Kerry will then travel to Sydney, Australia from Aug. 11 to Aug. 13, meeting with U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and their Australian counterparts to discuss longstanding cooperation.
Kerry will finish his trip in the Solomon Islands to attend wreath laying ceremonies at the Guadalcanal American Memorial. He will return to Washington after speaking at the East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii on Aug. 13.
