Obama Says Russia ‘Doesn’t Make Anything’

Official White House Photo by Pete Souza(WASHINGTON) — President Obama had some harsh words for Moscow, dismissing Russia as a country that “doesn’t make anything” and calling out a shrinking population.
In an interview with The Economist, the president reinforces his previous assessment that the country is a regional power.
“Immigrants aren’t rushing to Moscow in search of opportunity,” Obama added.
The president went on to say that the United States must respond to “regional challenges” presented by Russia — like the crisis in the Ukraine — to make sure that the situation does not escalate to the point of using nuclear weapons.
“And as long as we do that, then I think history is on our side,” Obama claimed.
