During the offseason, the Orioles signed Jimenez to a four-year deal worth $50 million. That is proving to be so far quite an expensive mistake.

“It’s a little bit disappointing, it’s a little bit hard, but like I say, we’re all here for the same thing, and that’s hopefully getting us into the World Series,” Jimenez told The Baltimore Sun. “This is no time to be selfish or to be putting your head down, like this is the end of the world. You have to keep going for the team.”

In 20 starts this season, the 30-year-old Jimenez is 4-9 with a 4.74 ERA to go along with a 1.53 WHIP.

Jimenez hasn’t pitched in relief since his major league debut back in 2006.

Taking his place in the rotation will be Miguel Gonzalez.
