(BALTIMORE) — The Baltimore Orioles hammered New York in an 11-3 win at home on Saturday. However, Baltimore (68-50) may have lost third baseman Manny Machado to the disabled list.

Machado exited the game in the third inning after spraining his right knee after swinging at a pitch in the fifth inning.

“There’s a chance we may have dodged a bullet,” said Baltimore (68-50) manager Buck Showalter.  “We’ll just wait for the results.” He

“Hopefully it is on the good side other than the bad,” he continued.

Machado, who will be reevaluated on Tuesday, ended up leaving the game and being replaced in the lineup by Chris Davis. Davis would later go on to lift Baltimore ahead of the Yankees with a two-run home run. The flood-gates then opened for the Orioles, adding a run in the fourth, three in the seventh and four more in the eighth.

Baltimore’s win put them seven games ahead of New York (61-57) in the American League East. It is the biggest gap between the two squads in the season.
