Robin Williams’ Death Shakes Up “Mrs. Doubtfire” Sequel

Jason Kempin/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — The sudden death of Robin Williams on Monday has cast into question the status of the movies on which he was working — in particular, the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel.
Williams, who starred in the 1993 comedy, and director Chris Columbus were already attached to the project, according to reports. But according to Variety, the sequel is now up in the air. Although no decision has been announced by Fox, who was developing the sequel, the project “most likely won’t go ahead.”
Williams will still appear in a few upcoming films. He’d already finished the film Merry Friggin’ Christmas. Also starring Lauren Graham and Oliver Platt, it’s set for release on Nov. 7.
Also, Williams filmed his recurring role of Teddy Roosevelt in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, which is set for release Dec. 19. It’s the third movie in the Night at the Museum series, which also stars Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson.
Absolutely Anything is yet another project on which Williams was working. The film, a mix of comedy and sci-fi in which Williams voiced Dennis the Dog, is due to be released next year.
