The latest injury to hit the team is starting pitcher Brett Anderson, who will miss the remainder of the 2014 season to repair a disk in his lower back.

He will undergo surgery to fix the issue, and will sit out to rest of the year.

This a tough break for Anderson, who was enjoying success in his first season with the Rockies. He had spent the first five seasons of his career with the Oakland Athletics.

Despite his talent, Anderson has had trouble staying on the field due to health. The year 2009, his rookie season, was the only season the 26-year-old Anderson was able to make at least 30 starts. Aside from his rookie year, Anderson has never been able to make more than 19 starts in a season.

In eight starts this season, Anderson went 1-3 with a 2.91 era and a 1.32 WHIP.

Despite the injury, Anderson is expected to be ready for spring training.
