Idaho Falls (31-29, 11-11) began the third inning with Kyle Zimmer on the mound. The 2012 5th overall pick allowed one run, and did not get out of the opening inning tonight, working on a strict pitch limit. Zimmer faced five batters, and allowed two hits, including the RBI single by Luis Castro. It put the Rockies (38-22, 15-7) up 3-0.
The Chukars tied the game in the fourth. Ryan O’Hearn singled home Corey Toups to get Idaho Falls on the board. With two runners in scoring position and two outs, Brandon Thomasson doubled off the left field wall off of Javier Palacios (5-4) to tie it.
Eric Stout (4-1) got into trouble for the Greybirds in the fifth. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases for Kevin Padlo. The Rockies third baseman tagged a ball to the left-center field gap to clear the basis and put Grand Junction up for good.
The Chukars are now four games back of the Rockies with 16 games left to play. Two of the games are slated for Thursday, in a doubleheader against Grand Junction. The two seven inning games will begin at 5pm.
