With one out and Will Venable on second base, Padres shortstop Alexi Amarista took the first pitch he saw from Dodgers reliever Jamey Wright and singled home the go-ahead run.

Los Angeles’ Zack Greinke and San Diego’s Ian Kennedy were locked in a pitcher’s duel. Grienke allowed one earned run on four hits in eight innings of work. He struck out eight while walking two. Kennedy gave up one earned run and four hits over seven innings. The right-hander struck out eight and walked three.
