Sylvester Stallone Wants Sigourney Weaver to Lead “The Expendabelles”

Lionsgate(LOS ANGELES) — Expendables producer Avi Lerner says an all-female spin-off titled The Expendabelles, will begin production in early 2015.
The Hollywood Reporter quotes Lerner as saying, “We’re going to do it at the beginning of next year. We are writing the final lines of the script, we’ve got lots of ideas about who is going to be in it.”
The only potential cast member hinted at so far is Sigourney Weaver. Sylvester Stallone says he would love to have Weaver portray his on-screen wife and lead The Expendabelles.
Stallone quipped that the plot of the movie could have Weaver getting half of The Expendables team as part of a messy divorce. “So she’d get the house, the kids and my mercenaries,” he joked.
Stallone says they haven’t decided how The Expendabelles will be made. “We’ve got a situation where we’re in unchartered waters,” the actor says. “Do we put all women actresses together, would that really work? Or do we have some women who are actually really known to be tough fighters?”
The Expendables 3 opens in theaters on Aug. 15.
