Tiger Woods Withdraws From Consideration For Ryder Cup
Published at(NEW YORK) — Tiger Woods has pulled himself out of the running for a spot on this year’s U.S. Ryder Cup team.
“I’ve been told by my doctors and trainer that my back muscles need to be rehabilitated and healed,” Woods said in a statement released on his website Wednesday. “They’ve advised me not to play or practice now. I was fortunate that my recent back injury was not related to my surgery and was muscular only. “
The 14-time major champion missed the cut in this past weekend’s PGA Championship after shooting a 74 in the first two rounds.
Woods says he plans to return to the links on Dec. 4 for his tournament, the World Challenge in Orlando, Florida.
