According to a press release from the Smithsonian, the exhibition will open on November 9 and stay open through the early part of 2016. The collection of pieces currently owned by the William H. and Camille O. Cosby Collection will be publicly displayed alongside work from the National Museum of African Art.

The Cosbys’ collection includes over 200 African-American paintings, prints, sculptures and drawings. The couple began compiling the art more than 40 years ago, the Smithsonian says.

“It’s so important to show art by African-American artists in this exhibition at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art,” said Cosby. “To me, it’s a way for people to see what exists and to give voice to many of these artists who were silenced for so long, some of whom will speak no more.”
