Eagles Defeat Redskins in 37-34 Shootout
Published at(PHILADELPHIA, PA.) — The Philadelphia Eagles moved to 3-0 with a 37-34 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday.
Eagles quarterback Nick Foles tossed three touchdowns, including two to rookie wide receiver Jordan Matthews.
The game was full of hard hits, injuries and even a brawl as the teams battled back and forth.
Washington receiver DeSean Jackson, a former Eagle, drew significant attention as he was a frequent target of Philadelphia defenders. Eagles running back LeSean McCoy briefly left the game after a stunning hit by Washington defensive back David Amerson.
Redskins defensive back DeAngelo Hall said after the game he believes he suffered a torn Achilles.
After an interception by Washington cornerback Bahaud Breeland (that was later overturned), Foles took a strong hit from Chris Baker. Foles laid on the ground for several minutes as his teammates, including tackle Jason Peters, came to his defense and a brawl ensued on the Redskins sideline. Several punches were thrown; both Baker and Peters were ejected.
