(BLACKFOOT, ID) – The number of accidents near exit 93 along I-15 in Blackfoot has skyrocketed. Idaho State Police tell KIDK that it’s due in large part to inattentive drivers failing to recognize the traffic slowing down in front of them.

Authorities say several of the accidents have resulted in people being hospitalized, many of which have been rollovers.

Police have also reported a significant increase in the number of speeding tickets being issued since the speed limit was raised to 80 miles per hour in July.

The new law mandates a 65-mile-per-hour speed limit through Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and other major population centers, but does not apply to the Blackfoot exits.
