Fire Burns Lava Hot Springs Home
Published at | Updated at(LAVA HOT SPRINGS, ID) – A fire destroyed a home in Lava Hot Springs last week. It happened last Wednesday on the 500-block of River Street.
Authorities are now confirming that a fire hydrant near the home was shut off before fire crews arrived. Mayor Marshall Burgin tells KPVI that the water line was turned off because of a leak, and that the home was fully engulfed in flames before firefighters got there. The team had 600 gallons of water already on hand.
The fire was caused by a cigarette that was left in a flower pot. Both residents living at the home escaped uninjured.
