Flooding in India, Pakistan Leaves More than 300 Dead
Published at(ISLAMABAD) — The death toll from flooding in India and Pakistan continues to rise, with more than three hundred people dead and tens of thousands left homeless.
The worst-hit area is the Himalayan city of Kashmir, where after six straight days of rain, parts of the city remain underwater. Hundreds of villages have been washed away.
Both India and Pakistan’s armies have been called in to help rescue stranded villagers on their own sides of the border.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif spent the weekend touring flood-hit areas by helicopter.
