Hamels threw 108 pitches and struck out seven with five walks, but was battling the hot Atlanta heat and exited after getting Phil Gosselin to pop out to end the inning.

Jake Diekman came into the game, but did not know about the no-hitter until he looked at the scoreboard and struck out two in the seventh.

Ken Giles was aware of the combined no-hitter and struck out the side in the eighth inning.

Jonathan Papelbon felt the pressure coming in during the bottom of the ninth and retired Gosselin by getting him to line out to first base to complete the 11th combined no-hitter in major league history.
