Hurricanes’ Jordan Staal Breaks Leg

A.J. Messier/NHLI via Getty Images(BUFFALO, N.Y.) — Carolina Hurricanes center Jordan Staal broke his lower right leg during Tuesday night’s preseason game against the Sabres, general manager Ron Francis confirmed.
Francis added there is no timetable for Staal’s return.
“I’m concerned for sure. He’s a big piece of what we’re going to do moving forward,” new coach Bill Peters said following their game.
Staal will travel with the team on Wednesday for their game against the Islanders and then be evaluated by doctors on Thursday.
Staal was entering his third season with the Hurricanes and scored 15 goals with 25 assists last year.
