Idaho Falls Ends Ogden’s Six Game Win Streak

Brawlun Gomez and Jeckkson Flores began the inning with singles, and DonAndre Clark walked to load the bases. Corey Toups singled off of Trevor Oaks (5-2) to tie the game. Ryan O’Hearn walked with the bases loaded to add another. Jairo Pacheco delivered a high throw home that allowed DonAndre Clark to score and put the Chukars up 5-3. Samir Duenez capped the scoring with a single.
Jake Newberry (6-4) recorded a quality start for Idaho Falls, going the first six innings while allowing three runs. Jon Fitzsimmons cruised in the seventh and eighth innings, and only gave up a run. Fitzsimmons started the ninth inning, but gave up a hit and a walk and was removed from the game in favor of Nick Green. Jimmy Allen grounded out, but it scored Theo Alexander to make it a 6-5 game. After a Julian Leon single, Justin Chigbogu came to the plate representing the winning run. Chigbogu flew out to right field to end the game.
Pioneer League MVP Ryan O’Hearn homered in the first inning to put the Greybirds on the board. O’Hearn is third in the league with 13 home runs.
Idaho Falls continues the five straight games with Ogden Tuesday. Jake Newberry is slated to pitch for the Chukars.
