ISP Issues Phone Scam Warning

(POCATELLO, ID) – Idaho State Police are warning people about a phone scam targeting immigrants and international college students.
The scammer is using a phone number registered under the name “Idaho State Police.” The caller claims to be a trooper with an arrest warrant. Would-be victims are told that they have to pay a fine to clear the warrant or face deportation.
State officials say they’d never call someone to inform them about an arrest warrant and are urging residents to not give any financial information over the phone.
