(POCATELLO, ID) – Idaho State University has been awarded a $600,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. The grant came out of the Nuclear Energy University Program, and about two-thirds of that money will go directly into ISU’s Nuclear Engineering department.

Professor Chad Pope tells Local News 8 that the grant was extremely difficult to obtain and will further the joint research ISU conducts with the Idaho National Laboratory and the Argonne National Laboratory in Chicago.

The funding will be spread out in installments over the next three years.
