Markets on Edge as Fed Meeting Kicks Off
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — Until now, the Federal Reserve has reassured stock market investors, saying it will keep official short-term interest rates near zero for a “considerable time.” But those two words might be dropped from the next Fed statement, scheduled for Wednesday.
Policymakers begin a two-day meeting Tuesday morning, and markets are on edge.
On Tuesday, stock futures were down ahead of the opening bell. The day before, the averages closed mixed.
