The 88-year-old comedy legend joked during the ceremony that he was “almost honored” to be recognized at the venue.

ABC News Radio later asked Brooks how he wants to be remembered 100 years from now. He replied, “I don’t want to be remembered at all, but I’d like my work to be remembered. I’d like The Producers to be remembered. I’d like The Twelve Chairs, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, High Anxiety, I want those to be remembered. I don’t care about myself, really. Because it’s only a work that lives after you.”

Brooks wore a fake sixth finger on his left hand when he dipped it into the cement, just for laughs. He wouldn’t mind having an extra finger for real because, he explained, “When I get really hungry I eat fast. And Chinese food, you know, ribs, that extra finger helps to get a rib into your mouth very quickly.”

The ceremony was held one day before Young Frankenstein is released on Blu-ray, in honor of the classic comedy’s 40th anniversary.
