Wright has struggled this year at the plate and battled a shoulder injury since being hurt during a slide on July 12.

Wright was batting .269 in 134 games this year with eight home runs and 63 RBIs. He said he doesn’t know how much his injury has
impacted the numbers.

Wright added, “I don’t know. As I’ve said all along, I’m not one to make excuses. This season has left a sour taste in my mouth. I’m confident that after getting healthy, I’ll return to doing what I’m capable of.”

Wright believes that he’ll be fine come 2015 and doesn’t see anything carrying into Spring Training.

“I don’t want to do something to cause this to last into next year,” Wright said. “So I don’t have to feel this way next year.”

“We tried to get through it as best we could,” Mets manager Terry Collins said.  “We wanted to finish strong; when you lose your star, somebody’s else has to pick up the pieces.”
