Michigan got on the board first when sophomore running back De’Veon Smith scored on a 10-yard run to give the Wolverines a 7-0 lead with 11:10 left in the second quarter.

Minnesota proceeded to score 30 unanswered points, with the big blow coming late in the third quarter when sophomore quarterback Mitch Leidner connected with sophomore tight-end Maxx Williams on a 1-yard TD pass to give the Golden Gophers a 27-7 lead.

During the game, Michigan fans chanted for the dismissal of head coach Brady Hoke and athletic director Dave Brandon. It’s the first time in the program’s 135-year history that they have ended September with three losses.
