It was the Bulldogs’ first victory over LSU since 1999, and their first in Baton Rouge since 1991.

“I probably aged seven to 10 years in the final three minutes of the game,” said Mississippi State (4-0) head coach Dan Mullen. “We are trying to build a program and I’ll take it. I guess everybody can now write now I have beaten LSU and Alabama once during my career.”

Quarterback Dak Prescott, a Louisiana native, controlled tempo through the first three quarters. His 56-yard touchdown run put the Bulldogs up 24-10, while his pass to Jameon Lewis made it a 21-point Bulldog lead.

Trailing 31-10 heading into the fourth quarter, LSU (3-1) stormed back to score 19 unanswered points and threaten to deny the Bulldogs an upset. Brandon Harris found Malachi Dupre for a 31-yard touchdown pass that made it a 34-22 ballgame with less than two minutes remaining. The Tigers then recovered an onside kick, setting up another Harris-Dupre connection to close the gap to five.

LSU got one last chance, holding possession in the final seconds. A last-ditch heave to the endzone was picked off by Will Redmond.

Prescott finished the game with 268 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns, adding another score on the ground.
